Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Saturday dismissed reports of an internal rift, saying the party remains fully united and focused on the 2027 Assembly elections . His remarks came after a meeting of senior leaders at former CM Charanjit Singh Channi’s residence , which triggered speculation of factionalism.

Warring said the gathering was wrongly projected as a rebellion , stressing that leaders had met Channi in a routine manner. “There is no rebellion. No one has spoken against the high command,” he said.

He added that the Punjab Congress leadership will jointly campaign across the state and present a united front. “Channi, me and all others will fight together for Punjab,” he said.

Clarifying leadership matters, Warring said decisions on the state president and CM face rest with the Congress high command , including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi , and he will accept any decision taken.

“I am only in one race to bring Congress back to power,” he said, adding he has no objection if Channi or any other leader is chosen for key roles.

He further noted that senior leaders including Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa remain aligned with the party line, while ticket distribution for 2027 will be based on merit and winnability , with space for young leaders.

Warring said recent developments do not indicate factionalism, asserting that the party remains cohesive despite political speculation from rivals.
