The Punjab Police has busted a gangster module allegedly linked to foreign-based handlers, arresting three operatives and recovering three foreign-made sophisticated pistols along with ammunition , Director General of Police ( DGP ) Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday.

The operation was carried out by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, and Counter Intelligence, Jalandhar , in coordination with a central agency. The joint intelligence-led operation targeted a network suspected of facilitating organised crime activities in Punjab.

Sharing details on social media, DGP Gaurav Yadav said the module was connected to foreign-based gangsters involved in gang wars, extortion and other disruptive activities in the state. An FIR has been registered at the SSOC police station in Amritsar .

The arrested accused have been identified as Anmol Singh alias Mohla and Jagroop Singh alias Roopa , both residents of Batala, and Mohit Kumar alias Joban , a resident of Amritsar.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly working on the directions of their foreign-based handlers and were involved in transporting weapon consignments and executing criminal activities assigned by the overseas networks.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, SSOC Amritsar, Sukhminder Singh Mann , said the arrests were made during an intelligence-based operation. He added that investigations have revealed links between the accused and previous criminal cases, including a murder case registered under the Amritsar Police Commissionerate in September 2025 and an attempt to murder case registered in Batala in June 2026 .

Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network, trace the foreign-based handlers and uncover the wider criminal operations connected to the module.
