PV Narasimha Rao’s Economic Reforms Transformed India’s Future: CM Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan paid tributes to former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao on his 105th birth anniversary, recalling his transformative role in shaping modern India and praising his far-sighted leadership that helped steer the country through a critical phase in its history.

In a message posted on X, Chandrababu Naidu said Narasimha Rao assumed office as Prime Minister when India was facing severe economic challenges and uncertainty. He noted that Rao’s historic economic reforms and visionary leadership fundamentally altered the country’s development path, laying the foundation for long-term growth and progress.

The Chief Minister described Rao as a statesman whose contributions continue to inspire generations. According to Naidu, the reforms introduced during Rao’s tenure not only addressed immediate economic concerns but also opened new opportunities for India’s emergence as a major global economy. He said the former Prime Minister’s service to the nation and his guidance would remain a source of inspiration for years to come.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also remembered Narasimha Rao as one of India’s most distinguished scholars and visionary leaders. He said Rao’s leadership as both the Chief Minister of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and later as the Prime Minister of India left a lasting impact on the nation’s history.

Pawan Kalyan highlighted Rao’s courage, foresight and commitment to reform , stating that the economic measures introduced under his leadership not only accelerated India’s growth but also enhanced the country’s standing in the international community. He said Rao’s exceptional intellect, administrative capabilities and unwavering dedication to national development continue to serve as an inspiration.

The Deputy Chief Minister further noted that Rao’s journey from the rich literary and cultural traditions of Telugu society to the country’s highest public office reflected his deep knowledge, humility and statesmanship. He described him as a towering personality who embodied scholarship, public service and visionary leadership.

Born on June 28, 1921 , P. V. Narasimha Rao served as India’s Prime Minister from June 21, 1991, to May 16, 1996 . Widely regarded as the architect of India’s economic liberalisation , he played a pivotal role in transforming the nation’s economy and guiding it towards sustained growth. Rao passed away on December 23, 2004 , leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence India’s development journey.
