Rahul Gandhi Meets Anwar Ibrahim, Priyanka Gandhi Joins Breakfast Meet
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over breakfast in the national capital on Sunday, with the two leaders discussing India-Malaysia relations.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also present at the meeting. The Congress shared pictures of the interaction between the Gandhi siblings and the Malaysian prime minister.
The meeting took place a day after Ibrahim held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi. Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas including trade, semiconductors, infrastructure and defence.
Ibrahim’s meeting with Rahul Gandhi adds another political engagement to the Malaysian prime minister’s visit to India, as both countries seek to deepen their economic and strategic partnership.
Malaysia is a partner country in BRICS and also an important partner for India within the ASEAN framework. India and Malaysia have been working to expand cooperation across trade, investment, technology, defence and regional issues.
The breakfast meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Ibrahim comes at a time when India is seeking stronger engagement with Southeast Asian countries, while Malaysia continues to play an important role in regional economic and diplomatic forums.
