Rahul Gandhi Must Become Prime Minister in 2029, Says Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said that making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections was a historic necessity for the country, while simultaneously launching a sharp attack on former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his family over their alleged wealth and assets.
Speaking at a thanksgiving meeting in Midjil, Mahabubnagar district, organised to mark 20 years of his public life , Revanth Reddy recalled that his political journey began on July 4, 2006, when he was elected as a ZPTC member from Midjil. He said the support and blessings of the people had enabled him to reach the position of Chief Minister and expressed gratitude to the residents of the constituency.
During the programme, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 47.087 crore and urged Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to take special steps for the development of Midjil. He also offered special prayers at the local Anjaneya Swamy temple.
Highlighting the Congress party's contribution to Telangana, Revanth Reddy said Sonia Gandhi played a crucial role in the formation of the state and that the people of Telangana now had an opportunity to repay that political debt. He asserted that Rahul Gandhi's leadership was essential for the country's future and called upon party workers to begin the effort to make him Prime Minister from Midjil itself. He also referred to the sacrifices of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi , saying their family's contribution to the nation was unparalleled.
The Chief Minister accused the previous BRS government of failing to fulfil key promises such as double-bedroom houses, jobs for unemployed youth and land distribution to Dalit families. He said the Congress government had implemented welfare measures including fine rice distribution and farm loan waivers , and questioned why people would want a change in government when such programmes were benefiting them.
In a strongly worded attack on KCR and his family, Revanth Reddy questioned the origin of their alleged assets, including farmhouses and land holdings. He also alleged that Telangana was left with a debt burden of Rs 8.21 lakh crore during BRS rule and demanded answers on how the family's wealth had grown over the same period. Referring to allegations of phone tapping under the previous regime, he said Telangana's people had rejected such politics and would continue to stand for transparent and accountable governance.
