Rajasthan ANTF Seizes 90 Kg Opium Worth ₹4.5 Crore in Multi-State Crackdown

In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Rajasthan's Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), in coordination with Haryana Police, has seized nearly 90 kg of opium worth around ₹4.5 crore and arrested two persons following a multi-state operation spanning several regions of northern and northeastern India.

According to police officials, the narcotics consignment was being transported in a truck from Manipur and was destined for Rajasthan through transit routes in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana , with a key handler allegedly operating from Jammu .

The operation was launched after ANTF teams from Hanumangarh, Sri Ganganagar and Nagaur districts tracked the movement of the vehicle. Suspicion arose when the truck abruptly stopped near Sirsa in Haryana , just before entering Rajasthan. Investigators reportedly intercepted coded communications between the accused and their handlers, indicating concerns that the operation had been compromised.

Acting on the intelligence, Inspector General of Police (ANTF) Vikas Kumar coordinated with Haryana Police to intercept the truck. During the initial inspection, the vehicle appeared empty. However, a detailed search uncovered a specially fabricated compartment welded beneath the truck using iron plates.

Police dismantled the hidden chamber and recovered 95 packets containing approximately 90 kg of opium .

The arrested accused have been identified as Kishnaram , a resident of Rajasthan's Pali district , and Sukhram , who investigators believe played a key role in the trafficking network.

Officials said the operation involved coordination across Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Jammu , making it one of the most extensive anti-narcotics actions in recent months. Authorities described the seizure as among the largest opium recoveries in the region in recent times.

Further investigations are underway to identify other members of the network, trace the supply chain and uncover the intended recipients of the consignment.
