Rajasthan Police Book 4,869 Vehicles In Major Crackdown On Illegal Modifications
Rajasthan Police have intensified a statewide traffic enforcement drive against illegal vehicle modifications , taking action against 4,869 vehicles in a single day as part of a month-long campaign aimed at improving road safety and ensuring compliance with motor vehicle rules across the state.
The drive, conducted from June 1 to June 30 under the direction of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, initially began with three days of awareness and counselling sessions for drivers and vehicle owners. Strict enforcement was launched subsequently, officials said.
On the first day of enforcement, authorities acted across multiple violation categories. A total of 2,246 vehicles for black films on windows , 1,372 for improper number plates or registration markings , and 512 for illegal modifications were penalised. In addition, action was taken against 313 vehicles displaying unauthorised words, symbols or designations , 214 using red-blue beacons, strobe lights or hooters without permission , and 212 using pressure horns or air horns in violation of traffic rules.
Officials also said the drive covers other prohibited alterations such as modified silencers , additional lighting systems , and structural changes that compromise road safety and violate the Motor Vehicles Act . The campaign is being implemented across highways, urban roads and toll plazas , with coordinated teams deployed at key checkpoints to prevent violators from entering cities.
Authorities said the enforcement is part of broader efforts to strengthen road safety discipline and curb misuse of modified vehicles for security risks and identification evasion.
Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) B L Meena said the drive will continue throughout June with sustained inspections and strict action against violators. Officials reiterated that penalties and challans will continue as part of ongoing enforcement to ensure compliance across Rajasthan.
