Rajasthan Police Bust Massive MDMA Lab in Bhilwara, Seize Drugs Worth Rs 120 Crore
Rajasthan Police have dismantled a clandestine MDMA manufacturing unit operating from an under-construction house in Bhilwara district, seizing drugs and raw materials worth over Rs 120 crore and arresting three people during the operation, officials said on Monday.
The raid was conducted in a deserted area under Bijolia police station limits after police received specific intelligence inputs regarding the illegal production of synthetic drugs. The unit was allegedly functioning as a covert laboratory producing MD drugs in a remote rural location.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Paras Jain , police recovered 36 kg of MD drugs , valued at nearly Rs 72 crore, along with raw materials worth about Rs 50 crore used for manufacturing narcotics. The total seizure pushed the estimated value of the haul beyond Rs 120 crore.
Officials said the drugs were being processed using containers, cans and bottles , with preliminary findings indicating that production was underway at the time of the raid.
Police teams led by Circle Officer Yogesh Sharma conducted the operation in Champapur village. During the raid, authorities also noted the presence of strong chemical substances, a common feature in such illegal labs that often requires protective measures due to toxic fumes.
The arrested accused were identified as Virendra (51) and Bahadur Singh (43) from Madhya Pradesh, and Bablu (30) from Bhilwara district. They were taken into custody from the spot.
Investigators suspect the unit is part of a broader interstate narcotics supply network , and preliminary interrogation suggests the accused were actively involved in producing MD drugs from the seized raw materials when the raid took place.
Police have launched a wider probe to trace the supply chain, financial backers, and network links , and to identify others connected to the illegal operation. Further investigation is underway under provisions of the NDPS Act.
