Rajasthan SI Re-Exam Held Four Years After Paper Leak, 2.18 Lakh Candidates Appear

The Rajasthan Police Sub-Inspector (SI) and Platoon Commander Recruitment Re-examination 2021 was conducted across 11 districts on Sunday amid tight security, officials said.

A total of 2,18,114 candidates had registered for the re-examination, which was held at 666 centres across the state. Elaborate security arrangements were put in place to ensure the examination was conducted fairly and to prevent impersonation and other forms of malpractice.

Candidates were subjected to biometric verification, facial recognition and frisking before being allowed to enter the examination centres. The measures were aimed at verifying the identity of candidates and maintaining the integrity of the recruitment process, officials said.

The re-examination was conducted nearly four years after the original 2021 recruitment examination was cancelled following the leak of the question paper.

The 2021 recruitment process had received 7,97,011 applications, while 3,83,097 candidates appeared for the examination. Following allegations of a paper leak, the case was handed over to the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police for investigation.

The investigation into the alleged leak is still underway. According to officials, around 149 people have been arrested so far in connection with the case.

The fresh examination is part of the efforts to restart the recruitment process after the cancellation of the earlier test. Authorities implemented enhanced security and identity-verification measures at examination centres to prevent any repeat of the irregularities that had affected the previous recruitment exercise.

The conduct of the re-examination marks a significant step in the long-delayed recruitment process for Sub-Inspectors and Platoon Commanders in the Rajasthan Police. Officials maintained that strict monitoring and verification procedures were followed throughout the examination to ensure transparency and prevent unauthorised entry or cheating.
