Rajinikanth’s 'Jailer 2' Ala Bolelo Promo Out: Anirudh Dives Into Malayalam Beats

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has begun its musical promotions with the release of the 32 second promo for its first single, Ala Bolelo. Featuring actress Shamna Kassim, also known as Poorna, the song has already drawn comparisons with Tamannaah Bhatia’s hugely popular Kaavaalaa from the 2023 blockbuster. The full song is scheduled to release on August 21.

The promo offers a glimpse of Shamna dancing alongside Rajinikanth, who returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The song appears to carry a strong Kerala inspired flavour, with traditional sounding percussion and a festive presentation. The makers have positioned it as an energetic mass number, raising expectations over whether it can achieve the viral impact of Kaavaalaa.

Anirudh Ravichander has composed the track and also lends his voice along with Deepthi Suresh, while Arunraja Kamaraj has penned the lyrics. The combination marks another collaboration between Anirudh and Nelson Dilipkumar, who are returning to the franchise after the music of the first Jailer became a major part of its success.

The promo has, however, triggered a mixed response online. Some viewers have praised the beats and choreography, while others have criticised the Malayalam pronunciation in parts of the song. Since the track appears to incorporate Malayalam words and Kerala musical elements, sections of the audience have questioned the pronunciation and lyrics, sparking debate on social media.

The Kaavaalaa comparison is inevitable. Tamannaah’s dance number became one of the biggest talking points surrounding Jailer, helped by its catchy tune, choreography and instantly recognisable hook step. Ala Bolelo appears to follow a similar promotional strategy by placing a female performer prominently alongside Rajinikanth. Whether Shamna can recreate that impact will become clearer after the complete song arrives.

Shamna has also expressed her happiness at being part of the film, saying she is overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude for joining the prestigious project.

Meanwhile, Jailer 2 is directed by Nelson and produced by Sun Pictures, with Anirudh returning as composer. The sequel is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026, during the festive Dussehra period.
