
Rajiv Gandhi’s 82nd Birth Anniversary Celebrated on a Grand Scale Across Telangana
Telangana observed the 82nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Rajiv Gandhi, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and Congress leaders paying tribute to the late leader.
Remembering Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution to the country, Revanth Reddy said his vision continues to inspire generations. He stressed the need to build a stronger India on the principles of peace, brotherhood and equality, which he said were central to Rajiv Gandhi’s political outlook.
The Chief Minister also recalled that Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary is observed as Sadbhavana Diwas across the country. The occasion carries a broader message of communal harmony, national unity and peaceful coexistence, he said, calling on people to uphold these values.
In Nizamabad, TPCC chief and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi at his statue near Vinayak Nagar Hanuman Junction and Rajiv Chowk. He highlighted the former prime minister’s role in shaping India’s development agenda, particularly his emphasis on youth empowerment and technology.
Mahesh Kumar Goud also recalled Rajiv Gandhi’s efforts to strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions and expand grassroots participation in governance. He noted that the former prime minister placed considerable importance on young people and their role in the country’s political and social development.
Congress leaders and workers organised programmes across all districts of Telangana to mark the occasion. The celebrations focused on remembering Rajiv Gandhi’s contributions to India and reaffirming the values associated with his legacy.
