Ram Charan-Sukumar’s RC17 Set for October 20 Launch in Hyderabad

Ram Charan and Sukumar’s much-awaited RC17 is set for a formal launch on October 20 in Hyderabad, with the pooja ceremony planned to coincide with Vijaya Dashami. The untitled project marks the reunion of the actor-director duo after their acclaimed 2018 film Rangasthalam and is expected to be mounted as a stylish action drama with pan-India ambitions.

According to recent industry reports, the makers are preparing to begin the film’s regular shooting in December 2026. Sukumar has reportedly completed the scripting work and is currently overseeing pre-production, with the team working on a tightly planned schedule. The reported target is to complete the production and post-production work by December 2027, paving the way for a 2028 theatrical release.

The project is being backed by Mythri Movie Makers, with reports also indicating the involvement of Sukumar Writings. While several names have been linked to the female lead, the heroine is yet to be officially confirmed. Similarly, Shashwat Sachdev has been widely reported as being in consideration for the music, but an official confirmation from the makers is still awaited.

Ram Charan is also undergoing a physical transformation for the project. After his muscular and rugged appearance in Peddi, reports suggest that the actor has been working on reducing his weight for his new role. His preparations follow his recovery from a wrist injury that required surgery earlier this year, after which he was advised to undergo rest and rehabilitation before returning to film sets.

The film has already generated considerable curiosity because of the Ram Charan-Sukumar combination. Their previous collaboration Rangasthalam was a major success, while Sukumar’s subsequent work on the Pushpa franchise has further raised expectations around his next project. With the October launch approaching and regular shooting planned for December, RC17 is emerging as one of the major Telugu film projects lined up for 2028.
