Ramarasa Sets December 11, 2026 Release Date With Grand Mythological Fantasy
Kannada mythological fantasy Ramarasa has officially locked December 11, 2026 as its worldwide theatrical release date. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker B.M. Giriraj, the film is produced by Guru Deshpande and Vikram Arya under G Cinemas Production and Seven Star Movies.
The film is rooted in Karnataka’s traditional folklore, local spiritual rituals and the Dasha Mahavidyas, with the story revolving around the divine play of Goddess Parashakti. Rather than presenting mythology in a conventional format, the makers are attempting to combine its cultural elements with fantasy, mystery and commercial entertainment.
Prajwal Devaraj plays the central character Guru Siddha, a role inspired by the nomadic Sudugadu Siddha community. The character draws from traditions associated with Shaivite mystics who travel between villages, perform spiritual practices, predict the future and use traditional knowledge for healing. Prajwal reportedly underwent extensive prosthetic makeup and worked on a 12th-century dialect for the character.
The ensemble cast includes Karthik Mahesh, Adah Sharma, Hebah Patel, Sharan, Balaji Manohar, Vaishali and Aditya, with Aditya playing the powerful character Veera Durmurgi. Reports indicate that this character has a significant connection to the mystery surrounding the Dasha Mahavidyas and could become an important turning point in the story.
The film has already completed shooting and is currently in the post-production stage. The makers are working on high-end VFX, editing and sound design, with the aim of creating a visually expansive theatrical experience.
The technical team includes K. Krishnakumar as cinematographer, B.J. Bharath as music composer, Arjun Kittu as editor and Hosmane Murthy as art director. Lyrics have been penned by Dr. V. Nagendra Prasad, Nagarjun Sharma and Puneeth Rangaswamy. The makers have also hinted at additional surprise appearances, keeping further details under wraps ahead of the release.
With its mix of folklore, spirituality, fantasy, a large ensemble and ambitious visual effects, Ramarasa is shaping up as one of Kannada cinema’s notable year-end theatrical releases.
