Ramchander Rao Demands Removal of 22A Curbs on Genuine Landowners

Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao on Monday demanded that the Congress government remove hurdles preventing genuine landowners from registering and transferring their properties, as the party held a mass protest in Siddipet over restrictions imposed on lands under the 22A list.

Addressing farmers and families affected by the restrictions, Ramchander Rao said thousands of people were living with uncertainty over lands that had remained in their possession and, in many cases, under cultivation for years. He alleged that genuine landholders were being forced to run from one government office to another to register, sell or otherwise exercise their rights over their own properties.

Taking aim at both the present and previous state governments, he said farmers had continued to face land-related difficulties despite changes in administration. According to him, the previous BRS government had created problems through Dharani, while the Congress government was now troubling landowners through Bhu Bharati and 22A restrictions.

Ramchander Rao accused both governments of failing to provide a lasting solution to farmers’ land disputes. He said the BJP would stand with every affected farmer and family and continue its agitation until the lands of genuine rights holders were removed from the prohibited list.

The protest was organised under the leadership of Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao and witnessed the participation of a large number of affected farmers, their family members and local residents.

Meanwhile, Ramchander Rao also raised concerns over the financial distress faced by private degree colleges due to long-pending fee reimbursement dues. He said representatives of degree colleges met him at his residence and submitted a memorandum outlining the difficulties faced by their institutions.

With reimbursement payments pending for years, many private colleges were struggling to meet even their basic expenses, including salaries for teaching and non-teaching staff and day-to-day operational costs, he said. Ramchander Rao urged the Congress government to immediately clear the pending fee reimbursement dues, saying the prolonged delay was putting students, teachers and college managements under increasing pressure.
