The much-awaited cinematic retelling of the Ramayana is set to make a major global push, with Sony Pictures announcing November 6, 2026 as the worldwide release date for the first instalment of its ambitious two-part adaptation.

The film will open internationally in IMAX and 3D, while audiences in India will get to experience it two days later, on November 8, coinciding with the Diwali festive period.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film brings together an ensemble led by Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The project is being positioned as a large-scale cinematic interpretation of one of India's most enduring epics, combining mythology, visual spectacle and contemporary filmmaking technology.

Adding further international appeal to the production is its musical team. Renowned composer Hans Zimmer has collaborated with A.R. Rahman on the film's music, bringing together two globally recognised names from the world of cinema and sound.

The makers are also planning a series of fan-focused events in the run-up to the release. Ranbir Kapoor is scheduled to meet fans in Delhi on October 31, followed by Yash's fan meet-up in Bengaluru on November 1. The events are expected to build momentum around the film ahead of its theatrical debut.

The decision to release the film globally before its Indian opening underlines the makers' ambition to take the Ramayana beyond its traditional cultural audience and present it as a large-scale international cinematic event.

With a star-studded cast, an acclaimed directorial team and a release planned across premium formats, the film is shaping up as one of the most closely watched Indian releases of 2026.
