Ravindra Jadeja Returns, Saransh Jain Earns Maiden India Test Call-Up for Sri Lanka Tour

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has returned to India's Test squad, while domestic all-rounder Saransh Jain has received his maiden national call-up as the BCCI announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka. The series forms part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

The squad will be led by Shubman Gill, with experienced opener KL Rahul serving as vice-captain. Wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel have been retained, while Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Manav Suthar, and Gurnoor Brar also feature in the squad.

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and top-order batter B Sai Sudharsan have been included, but their participation will be subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE).

Meanwhile, spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar was unavailable for selection for the first Test after suffering an injury during India's recent white-ball tour of England earlier this month.

The selectors have rewarded Saransh Jain for his consistent performances in domestic cricket, with the all-rounder earning his first opportunity to represent India in the longest format. Jadeja's return also strengthens India's spin department ahead of the challenging conditions in Sri Lanka.

India will begin the series with the first Test at Galle from August 15 to 19, followed by the second Test at the SSC in Colombo from August 23 to 27.
