Rohit Godara-Lipin Nehra Gang Busted? Gurugram Police Arrest Six, Seize Arms

Gurugram Police have foiled an extortion bid and two planned targeted killings with the arrest of six alleged members of the Rohit Godara-Lipin Nehra gang, officials said on Monday. A cache of illegal firearms and ammunition was also recovered from the accused.

The arrests followed a case registered at Bhondsi police station on August 18 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to organised crime and criminal conspiracy. According to police, members of the syndicate were allegedly preparing to carry out extortion and murder in Gurugram and other parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi-NCR.

The accused have been identified as Gurugram residents Salim, Narender alias Sonu and Dayaram, Mohit from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, Lalit from Rajasthan’s Alwar and Aryan alias Ritesh from Haryana’s Jhajjar district.

Police seized four foreign-made pistols, including a Turkey-made Zigana and three PX30 models, along with two Indian pistols, a rifle, 33 live cartridges and nine magazines. A Scorpio vehicle valued at around ₹40 lakh was also recovered.

A senior police officer said interrogation revealed that the accused were allegedly planning to murder two members of a rival group. Their prompt arrest by the Crime Branch prevented the planned attacks, the official said.

Salim, Mohit, Narender and Lalit were arrested on August 19 from Alipur Mor in the Bhondsi area. Their interrogation led police to Dayaram, who was arrested the same day. Aryan was subsequently arrested from Hariyahera Mor.

Police records show Narender has 21 criminal cases, while Salim faces 10, Dayaram five, Aryan four and Mohit two. The cases include murder, attempted murder, extortion, robbery, threats and Arms Act violations.

ACP (Crime) Lalit Dalal said gang members allegedly maintained contact with associates in India and abroad through social media and other communication platforms. Police said continuous raids are underway to trace additional gang members, shooters, weapon suppliers and others linked to the extortion network.
