Four men have been arrested after gunshots were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu early Sunday, in an incident that has raised concerns across Bollywood. Investigators say the arrested individuals had links with Shubham Lonkar of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang , a notorious organized crime network known for targeting high-profile figures, including Bollywood personalities.

The incident occurred around 12:45 am, when at least five rounds were fired at Shetty’s nine-storey building. One bullet hit the glass of a gym on the first floor, but no injuries were reported. CCTV footage and forensic evidence are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police initially detained five men in Pune from Warje Malwadi. They were identified as Aman Marote (27) and Aditya Gayaki (19) from Karve Nagar, and Siddharth Yenpure (20) , Samarth Pomaji (18) , and Swapnil Sakat (23) from Dhayari. By late Sunday night, the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch formally arrested four of them, Aman, Aditya, Siddharth, and Samarth, for providing logistical support to the shooters. Swapnil Sakat was reportedly not formally arrested.

Shortly after the firing, a threatening social media post surfaced, claiming responsibility on behalf of Bishnoi gang members including Shubham Lonkar, Arzoo Bishnoi, Hari Boxer, and Harman Shandu . The post described the attack as a “trailer,” warning that future bullets could hit Shetty’s bedroom if warnings were ignored. It also cautioned the broader Bollywood community to “stay within limits,” reflecting the gang’s history of issuing threats and extortion attempts against film industry figures.

Following the attack, security around Shetty’s residence and film sets has been strengthened, with enhanced police deployment and private protection. Productions, including Golmaal 5 , may operate under two-tier security protocols. Several film bodies and industry guilds have condemned the attack, emphasizing that violence has no place in creative spaces and calling for stronger protection for Bollywood figures.
