Rohru Blind Murder Case Solved: 3 Nepal Workers Held In Late-Night Theft Horror In HP
Shimla police have solved the blind murder case of a 77-year-old woman in Rohru subdivision, arresting three Nepal nationals who allegedly killed her during a failed theft attempt, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The victim, Geeta Devi , was found dead inside her home in Shalash Dogri village on June 16 after unidentified persons entered her house with the intention of theft and attacked her. According to police, she was struck with a stick, leading to her death, after which the accused fled the scene.
All three accused, Lal Bahadur alias Lalu (28) of Jalma village in Nepal, Santosh (20) , and Naveen (19) from Jhadeli village in Nepal, were working as labourers in a local apple orchard. They were arrested on June 22 after technical analysis reportedly placed them near the crime scene on the day of the incident.
Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Mehar Panwar said the case was particularly challenging as there were no eyewitnesses, no CCTV coverage, and no immediate clear evidence of theft. Investigators relied on forensic examination, biological and physical evidence , and combined technical and human intelligence to trace the accused.
Police further stated that the accused confessed during interrogation and a stick allegedly used in the assault was recovered. Reports also indicate that investigators used digital location tracking to establish their presence near the crime scene, helping crack what officials described as a “blind murder” case within about a week.
The case, registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita , is now moving into the next stage of legal proceedings, with further investigation continuing.
