Sai Pallavi Out, Rashmika In? Big Twist in MS Subbulakshmi Biopic Casting

Rashmika Mandanna is reportedly set to take on one of the most challenging roles of her career, with fresh reports suggesting that she has been finalized to portray Bharat Ratna awardee and legendary Carnatic singer MS Subbulakshmi in an upcoming biopic.

The much-discussed film, based on the extraordinary life of one of the most revered voices in Indian classical music, has been generating considerable buzz over its casting in recent months. While Sai Pallavi was initially reported to be the makers' choice for the lead role, she is said to have stepped away due to scheduling commitments.

Several names subsequently surfaced in connection with the project, including Rukmini Vasanth. However, the latest reports indicate that the makers may have now zeroed in on Rashmika Mandanna to bring the iconic singer's life to the big screen.

The project is expected to receive an official announcement on September 16, which marks the birth anniversary of MS Subbulakshmi. However, the casting and other details are yet to be formally confirmed by the makers.

Portraying MS Subbulakshmi would be a major responsibility for Rashmika. Known for her remarkable voice, grace and towering contribution to Indian classical music, the legendary singer remains an enduring cultural icon.
