Salman Khan Firing Probe: Anmol Bishnoi Urges Court to Expedite Trial Through Surrender
Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has moved a special MCOCA court in Mumbai seeking permission to formally surrender in the 2024 Salman Khan residence firing case. Currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail in connection with a separate National Investigation Agency (NIA) case, Bishnoi said he wished to participate in the trial "in the interest of a fair trial and justice."
In his application, Anmol stated that he remains in lawful custody in another case and cannot appear before the Mumbai court without a judicial order. He has requested the court to issue a production warrant, enabling his physical or virtual appearance so that his surrender can be formally recorded and legal proceedings can continue.
The plea argues that his surrender would not prejudice the prosecution and would instead help expedite the trial, preventing unnecessary procedural delays. It also points out that the trial has already begun and three prosecution witnesses have been examined in his absence.
The case stems from the April 14, 2024, firing outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Mumbai's Bandra area. Police alleged that motorcycle-borne assailants Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal carried out the attack. Other accused, including Sonukumar Bishnoi, Mohammad Rafiq Choudhari, and Harpal Singh, remain in judicial custody, while accused Anujkumar Thapan died by suicide during police custody.
