
Second Chargesheet Filed in TCS Nashik Forced Conversion Probe
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged sexual harassment and forced religious conversion case at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has filed its second chargesheet before a Nashik court, officials said on Thursday.
The chargesheet pertains to eight FIRs registered at Mumbai Naka police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Among those named are Raza Rafiq Memon , Shahrukh Husain Shaukat Qureshi , Ashwini Ashok Chainani , Tausif Bilal Attar , Shafi Bhikan Sheikh , Danish Ejaz Sheikh and Nida Ejaz Khan .
The latest development comes days after the SIT filed a 1,500-page chargesheet on May 22 in a separate case registered at Deolali Camp police station against Danish Ejaz Sheikh, Tausif Bilal Attar, Nida Ejaz Khan and Matin Majid Patel under the BNS and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The probe began after several women employees at the Nashik office of the IT major alleged sexual harassment, mental harassment, molestation and attempts at forced religious conversion . According to complaints, some accused allegedly used a WhatsApp group to pressure employees into offering prayers, consuming non-vegetarian food and adopting specific religious practices.
Investigators are also examining allegations that victims were subjected to sustained psychological pressure for refusing to follow these practices.
Meanwhile, AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel was questioned for nearly nine hours for allegedly sheltering accused Nida Khan while she was absconding. He has been summoned again on June 1.
TCS has stated that it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion, and confirmed that employees allegedly involved in the case have been suspended pending investigation.
