Section 22A Being Used To Deny Land Rights, Alleges Etala Rajender

BJP MP Etala Rajender on Saturday accused the Telangana government of using Section 22A restrictions and the Bhu Bharati land records system to deprive poor people and farmers of their land rights, alleging large-scale corruption and irregularities.

The BJP held a Maha Dharna at Indira Park under the leadership of BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, with party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and several affected landowners participating.

Rajender questioned the government's authority to place privately owned properties in the Section 22A prohibited list. He claimed the provision had caused severe hardship to residents and farmers in the Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency, alleging that nearly 55,000 farmers in Narsapur had been affected.

He also criticised the previous BRS government, alleging that the Dharani land records system had caused many poor people to lose their property rights. Rajender accused the present Congress government of allegedly going further by targeting lands being cultivated by poor and marginalised communities. He specifically raised concerns over farmers cultivating 659 acres in Bahadurpura.

Rajender alleged that Section 22A was being used as a “blackmailing weapon” for financial gains and claimed that the Congress leadership was being funded through such practices. He warned senior officials against blindly implementing political directions, cautioning that they could face legal consequences for unlawful decisions.

The BJP MP also criticised HYDRA demolitions in areas including Girinagar, Phanigiri Colony, Gajularamaram and Mahendra Hills in Quthbullapur. He alleged that homes and apartments belonging to poor families were being demolished and claimed that structures used by Vaddera communities for decades had also been removed.

Rajender demanded CBI and ED investigations into alleged irregularities involving government lands, citing Gulf Oil Corporation land in Kukatpally, IDPL properties and 134 acres in Puppalaguda. He alleged that valuable land had been handed over to corporate entities during the BRS regime and claimed the Congress government was continuing similar practices.

He vowed to approach the central agencies and continue the agitation until justice is delivered to affected landowners.
