Security Forces Recover Arms Cache, Rs 24 Lakh from Maoist Hideouts in Chhattisgarh
Security forces have recovered a huge cache of firearms, ammunition, explosive materials, communication equipment, and Rs 24 lakh in cash from two concealed Maoist dumps in the forests of Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district , police said on Friday.
The recoveries were made during intelligence-based search operations launched earlier this week in the Orchha and Chhotedongar police station areas as part of intensified anti-Maoist operations across the Bastar region.
According to a senior police official, security personnel unearthed a hidden Maoist dump in the Tekla forested hills under the Orchha police station limits. The cache included one INSAS rifle, two SLR rifles, two .303 rifles, two 30-OC guns, a Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL), a single-shot gun, detonators, scanners, magazines, and several rounds of live ammunition .
In a separate operation conducted in the Toyameta forested hills under the Chhotedongar police station area, security forces recovered Rs 24 lakh in cash concealed in another Maoist dump on Thursday.
Police said search operations have been intensified since Chhattisgarh was declared free of armed Naxalism on March 31 , with security forces focusing on locating weapons, explosives, and cash allegedly hidden by Maoists in the past.
Officials reiterated that security forces remain committed to ensuring peace, security, and development in the district through sustained anti-Maoist operations. The Narayanpur police also appealed to residents to promptly report any suspicious activities and cooperate with authorities in maintaining peace and security in the region.
