SHE Teams Educate Hyderabad Students on Personal Safety and Cybercrime
The LB Nagar SHE Teams, operating under the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate, organised an awareness programme at the ZPHS school in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar to educate students about personal safety, cyber threats and the protection mechanisms available to women and children. The programme was conducted on Wednesday within the limits of the LB Nagar Police Station, with a focus on equipping students with the knowledge to identify potential dangers and respond appropriately to unsafe situations.
During the interactive session, police personnel explained the functioning and services of SHE Teams, highlighting their role in preventing harassment and ensuring the safety of women and girls. Students were sensitised to various forms of online and offline threats, including cybercrime, loan app frauds, human trafficking and child marriages. Officials also discussed incidents of harassment involving children and stressed the importance of recognising inappropriate behaviour at an early stage.
One of the key aspects of the programme was educating students about good touch and bad touch, enabling them to understand personal boundaries and identify situations that could threaten their safety. The session also highlighted the importance of gender equality, encouraging students to respect one another and contribute towards creating a safe and inclusive environment.
Police representatives further explained the importance of CCTV surveillance in preventing crimes and improving security in public spaces. They introduced students to the support and counselling services offered through CDEW counselling centres, which provide assistance to individuals facing harassment and other forms of distress.
To make the session more informative and relatable, officials presented case studies based on real-life incidents, explaining how different situations could develop into serious safety concerns and why timely intervention was essential. Students were encouraged to remain vigilant, communicate their concerns without hesitation and seek help whenever necessary.
As part of the emergency response guidance, students were advised to contact the police by dialling 112 whenever they encountered an emergency. They were also informed about the Malkajgiri Police Commissioner's WhatsApp helpline, 8712662111, through which they could approach the police for assistance.
