Sikkim NH-10 Traffic Alert: Night Restrictions Until November 4, Check Diversion Routes

Traffic movement on a stretch of National Highway 10 (NH-10) between Rangpo and Ranipool in Sikkim will be restricted for eight hours every night from October 29 to November 4 to facilitate emergency works, according to an official order.

The restrictions, issued by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), will remain in force daily from 9 pm to 5 am. The measure is intended to facilitate work related to full-fledged two-way traffic on the affected stretch.

Authorities have advised motorists to use designated alternative routes during the restriction period, depending on their vehicle category.

Light motor vehicles (LMVs) can take either the Rangpo–Duga–Pendam–Singtam route or the Mamring–Namthang–Singtam–Gangtok route.

For all classes of vehicles, the recommended alternative is the Rangpo–Rorathang–Pakyong–Gangtok route, the order said.

The district administration has been requested to make the necessary traffic-regulation arrangements to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles along the alternative routes.

Motorists travelling through the area during the seven-day period will need to account for the nightly restrictions and follow directions issued by local traffic authorities.

NH-10 is an important road link serving Sikkim and connecting the state with the adjoining region. The restriction applies to the specified stretch between Rangpo and Ranipool during the notified nighttime hours.

The order does not provide details of the specific engineering activities to be carried out during the restriction period or specify the number of traffic personnel to be deployed. It also does not mention whether additional traffic-control measures will be introduced.
