Jannik Sinner believes he is in the right shape to defend his Wimbledon title after coming through a demanding exhibition match in London's intense heat, while also revealing that medical tests have helped identify the cause of the physical issues that derailed his French Open campaign.

The world No. 1 looked comfortable in a straight sets 6-3, 6-3 victory over Britain's Cam Norrie at the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic on Wednesday, an outing that served as his final competitive tune up before Wimbledon begins on Monday.

With temperatures soaring across southern England amid an extreme heat warning , the exhibition provided a valuable test of Sinner's fitness and endurance. The Italian, however, appeared satisfied with both his physical condition and his preparations.

"It was very warm, but physically I felt good," Sinner said after the match, offering an encouraging update ahead of his title defence at the All England Club .

The performance comes less than a month after a worrying collapse at the French Open , where Sinner suffered dizziness and physical discomfort during a dramatic second round defeat. In Paris, he had looked set for victory before fading badly and losing in five sets to Juan Manuel Cerundolo , raising concerns about his health and readiness for the grass court season.

Addressing those concerns, Sinner confirmed that he had undergone medical evaluations in the aftermath of the defeat.

"We did some testing. We tried to understand what happened. We came to a conclusion which is very good," he said, without disclosing specific details.

The encouraging update will come as welcome news for fans, especially with Wimbledon around the corner. Earlier in the day, Sinner was seen wearing a cooling vest during practice, a precaution that highlighted the unusually hot conditions. Unlike previous matches in extreme temperatures, he did not require ice packs during the contest against Norrie.

The heat wave has affected more than just the players. Wimbledon organisers kept ball boys and ball girls away from qualifying matches on Wednesday, assigning adult court staff to carry out those duties instead. A temporary power outage at the Roehampton qualifying venue also disrupted the electronic line calling system, with officials examining whether the extreme weather contributed to the problem.

Sinner enters Wimbledon carrying strong memories from last year, when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final to capture his maiden Wimbledon title . With Alcaraz sidelined this year due to a wrist injury , the Italian arrives in London as one of the strongest contenders for the championship.

After answering questions about his fitness and handling one of the hottest days of the summer, Sinner appears ready for the challenge that awaits on the famous grass courts of Wimbledon .
