Special Intensive Revision of Delhi Voter List Begins, BLOs to Verify 1.45 Crore Electors
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Delhi’s electoral rolls will begin on Tuesday, with more than 13,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carrying out a door-to-door verification drive across the national capital to update and verify voter details.
Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashok Kumar said the exercise aims to ensure the accuracy of the voters’ list ahead of future elections. During the revision process, BLOs will visit households, distribute enumeration forms, and assist voters in updating their information based on records from the previous 2002 SIR .
Each voter will receive two copies of the enumeration form . One copy will be retained by the voter as an acknowledgement, while the other will be collected by the BLO after completion. Voters will also have the option to submit their details online. BLOs will make at least three visits to locked houses during the verification process to ensure maximum coverage.
The CEO said the issue of voters whose houses were demolished during recent anti-encroachment drives in Delhi will be taken up with the Election Commission of India .
Delhi currently has around 1.45 crore registered voters , including 77.11 lakh male electors, 67.98 lakh female electors and 1,024 third-gender voters . The electoral database also includes 76,155 voters with physical disabilities , over 3.29 lakh young voters aged 18-19 years , and 192 voters above the age of 100 .
The national capital has 13,033 polling stations spread across seven Lok Sabha constituencies and 70 Assembly constituencies .
The door-to-door verification drive will continue until July 29 , after which the draft electoral roll will be published on August 5 .
