State Invests ₹1.08 Lakh Per Student to Build Future-Ready Workforce

Telangana is reimagining its education system with a stronger focus on skills, global exposure and employability, as the state government seeks to prepare students for a rapidly evolving world. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday said the objective is to ensure that every student completing Class 12 possesses not only academic knowledge but also the practical skills and global awareness needed to succeed in international job markets.

Addressing teachers who recently returned from educational exposure visits to Finland and Germany, the Chief Minister said Telangana is drawing lessons from some of the world's most successful education systems to modernise classroom learning and improve student outcomes. Speaking at the Teacher International Exposure Visit and Educational Exchange programme at the MCR HRD Institute's Dasharathi Auditorium in Hyderabad, he said teachers hold the key to shaping the state's future and urged them to help make Telangana's government schools a benchmark for quality education.

Revanth Reddy said the government has already resolved long-pending issues relating to teacher transfers and promotions, allowing educators to focus entirely on teaching. He assured them that any remaining concerns would also be addressed proactively and asked them to submit a comprehensive roadmap by December outlining reforms for the next academic year. He also proposed developing every mandal as an educational cluster, enabling schools to adopt locally tailored strategies while maintaining uniform quality standards.

Highlighting recent initiatives, the Chief Minister said the state filled 11,000 teaching posts through the DSC recruitment drive in just 55 days, besides granting nearly 23,000 promotions and facilitating over 30,000 transfers. He urged teacher associations to prioritise discussions on student learning outcomes and academic quality over administrative matters.

Stressing the need to align education with global employment trends, Revanth Reddy said students should be equipped for both white-collar professions and high-value technical and vocational careers. He encouraged teachers to prepare students for opportunities not only in the United States but also in countries such as Germany, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and China, where skilled professionals are in growing demand. He noted that language proficiency, combined with specialised technical skills, could significantly improve overseas employment prospects.

The Chief Minister said education remains the most effective tool for long-term social transformation, enabling future generations to become self-reliant. He revealed that Telangana has allocated nearly 9% of its Budget to education, with around 27.5 lakh students enrolled in government schools and an average expenditure of ₹1.08 lakh per student annually. He added that government schools have recorded over one lakh new admissions this academic year, reflecting growing public confidence in the state's education reforms.
