In a significant push to make subsidised fertilisers more accessible, the Telangana Government has extended its urea booking service to Meeseva centres across the state. The move is expected to benefit thousands of farmers, particularly those who are unable to use the official Fertilizer Booking App because of limited digital access or lack of familiarity with smartphone-based services.

Previously, farmers could reserve subsidised urea only through the state's dedicated mobile application. With the latest initiative, they can now visit their nearest Meeseva centre , where trained operators will assist them in completing the booking process. The facility has been introduced through a joint effort by the Agriculture Department and the Meeseva network , functioning under the IT and Industries Department .

Officials said the decision is aimed at bridging the digital divide in rural areas while ensuring transparent and timely distribution of fertilisers during the ongoing agricultural season. By bringing the service to Meeseva centres, the government hopes to simplify access for small and marginal farmers and reduce the dependence on intermediaries.

To book subsidised urea, farmers need to visit a nearby Meeseva centre with their Pattadar Pass Book (PPB) number . The operator will retrieve the farmer's land records, verify the cultivated area and crop details, and reserve the required quantity of urea with the fertiliser dealer selected by the farmer. Once the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number is authenticated, the system generates a Booking ID , confirming the reservation.

The Booking ID will remain valid for 48 hours , excluding the date of booking. Farmers must purchase the allotted fertiliser from the selected dealer within the stipulated period, failing which the booking will automatically expire. The government has fixed a nominal service charge of ₹10 for the Meeseva-assisted booking. Farmers have also been advised to ensure that the mobile number linked to their Pattadar Pass Book is active, as OTP verification is mandatory for completing the transaction.

The Agriculture Department has clarified that bookings for subsidised urea should be made only through the official Fertilizer Booking App or authorised Meeseva centres , cautioning farmers against relying on unauthorised agents or unofficial channels. Those facing technical issues or requiring assistance have been asked to contact their nearest Agricultural Extension Officer (AEO) , Mandal Agriculture Officer (MAO) , or a Meeseva centre .

The initiative forms part of Telangana's broader efforts to digitise agricultural services while ensuring that farmers who are less comfortable with digital platforms are not left behind. By combining technology with the state's extensive Meeseva network , the government aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and equitable access to subsidised fertilisers, helping farmers receive essential inputs on time for cultivation.
