Sundeep Kishan, Mithila Palkar’s ‘Super Subbu’ Set For July 2 Release On Netflix

The release date of the upcoming Telugu comedy-drama series ‘Super Subbu’ , starring Sundeep Kishan , Mithila Palkar and Murali Sharma , has been officially announced, with the makers confirming that the show will premiere on July 2 .

Netflix unveiled the release date on Monday along with a new glimpse from the series, introducing viewers to the colourful, vibrant and often chaotic world of the fictional village Maakipur .

Created and directed by Mallik Ram , the series follows the journey of Subramanyam Chillukuri Rao , affectionately known as Subbu, an innocent and well-meaning man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is appointed as a sex education officer in a rural setup.

With little experience and no preparation for the sensitive role, Subbu finds himself struggling to handle curious villagers, awkward classroom moments and socially uncomfortable situations . His new job soon becomes far more complicated than expected, as he is forced to navigate misunderstandings and resistance while trying to carry out his responsibilities.

As Subbu adjusts to his role, his personal life, family relationships and future plans also begin to face pressure, pushing him into difficult choices that test both his confidence and values.

The makers said the series aims to blend humour with social relevance , using comedy as a way to open conversations around topics such as sex education, which are often considered taboo in society. According to director Mallik Ram , the story is designed to be entertaining, heartfelt and relatable , with humour helping to ease discomfort around sensitive issues.

He added that at the centre of the narrative is Subbu, a character who represents innocence and confusion while trying to find his place in an unfamiliar and challenging environment.

Apart from the lead cast, the series also features Brahmanandam , Get Up Srinu , Maanasa Choudhary and Jeevan in important roles, adding depth and comic flavour to the storyline.

Written by Mallik Ram, Ramesh Eligeti and Shivani Dhobal , the series is produced by Rajiv Chilaka and Bharath Laxmipati under Chilaka Productions .

‘Super Subbu’ will stream exclusively on Netflix from July 2 , expanding the platform’s slate of Indian original content.
