Suriya Turns Rule-Breaking Cop In ‘Scene’ Trailer, Takes On Ruthless Naslen

Suriya steps into the shoes of an unconventional police officer in the trailer of his upcoming film ‘Scene’, directed by Jithu Madhavan. Blending action, comedy and mystery, the trailer introduces Suriya as Inbaraj, a cop who refuses to follow orders and finds himself up against a dangerous criminal played by Naslen. Nazriya also features in a key role as Maya.

The trailer opens with Inbaraj deciding to resign from the police force, leaving his colleagues and seniors surprised. However, his superior officer Stephen, played by Lal, is unwilling to let him go. When Inbaraj ignores repeated instructions to report to duty, Stephen even sends policemen to his house to bring him back.

Questioned about quitting when he is at the peak of his career, Inbaraj reveals that he wants to enter politics. The exchange appears to be a humorous indirect reference to actor Vijay’s decision to leave films and pursue a political career. The trailer then introduces Naslen as Eeswaran, an intelligent and ruthless criminal who considers Inbaraj a worthy opponent. The cop, however, responds in his trademark unconventional style, asking, “Am I your equal?” The trailer concludes on a comic note with a reference to the ‘Singham’ franchise.

Suriya shared the trailer on social media, describing the film as a combination of “Murder. Mystery. Madness... and a whole lot of laughter!” The actor's 47th film is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on November 6, coinciding with the Deepavali festive season.

‘Scene’ marks Jithu Madhavan’s Tamil directorial debut after Malayalam hits ‘Romancham’ and ‘Aavesham’. The film has already generated interest with its songs ‘Aathi Iva Yarraa’ and ‘Aeroplane’, composed by Sushin Shyam. The latter features Suriya and Nazriya and offers a glimpse into their characters' relationship.

Produced by Suriya and Jyotika under Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment, the film also stars Anandraj and Raj Priyan. It will face box-office competition from Nayanthara’s ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ and ‘Ramayana: Part 1’, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.
