Tachikawa’s late magic seals Jamshedpur FC comeback against East Bengal in ISL
In a thrilling encounter at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan , Jamshedpur FC snatched a dramatic 2‑1 victory over East Bengal , coming from behind thanks to a spectacular late strike from Rei Tachikawa .
East Bengal seemed in control for much of the first half. Edmund Lalrindika gave the home side the lead in the 40th minute with a composed finish, sending the home crowd into celebrations. They had earlier seen a potential opener from Bouli ruled offside, but the early momentum was clearly theirs.
However, the second half belonged to Jamshedpur. The visitors grew in confidence, and in the 61st minute, Stephen Eze powered home a header from a perfectly delivered corner by Nikola Stojanović , leveling the score at 1‑1. From then on, the match swung in Jamshedpur’s favour, with goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill making crucial saves to keep his team in contention.
The decisive moment arrived in the 87th minute when substitute Rei Tachikawa curled a sublime shot into the top‑right corner, leaving East Bengal’s defence and goalkeeper stunned. Despite a late flurry of attempts from the hosts, Jamshedpur held on to secure the win.
This victory gives Jamshedpur FC nine points from three matches , propelling them to the top of the ISL table , while East Bengal drops to third with six points after suffering their first defeat of the season .
Looking ahead, Jamshedpur FC will host Inter Kashi on 6 March , while East Bengal faces FC Goa at home on 5 March , both eager to bounce back in the ongoing Indian Super League season .
