Tanvi Khanna produced one of the most memorable comebacks of her career, fighting back from two games down to defeat Egypt's Farida Walid 3-2 and capture the women's title at the HCL Squash PSA Challenger Tour in Mumbai on Friday.
The 29 year old Delhi player , seeded third in the tournament, looked to be heading towards defeat after losing the opening two games 8-11 and 2-11 against the second seeded Egyptian. However, Tanvi refused to give up, displaying remarkable determination, composure, and attacking intent to turn the contest around.
She edged a tense third game 12-10 , a moment that completely shifted the momentum of the final. Growing in confidence with every rally, Tanvi followed it up by winning the fourth game 11-9 , forcing the championship into a decisive fifth game.
With the crowd firmly behind her, the Indian maintained her momentum in the decider and closed out the match 11-7 , sealing a thrilling 3-2 victory in 54 minutes . The win marked her fifth PSA title in 11 career finals , adding another significant milestone to her professional career.
The comeback highlighted Tanvi's fighting spirit and ability to perform under pressure, especially against a higher ranked international opponent. Recovering after such a one sided start made the triumph even more special and showcased her growing confidence on the PSA Tour.
The men's final also produced an exciting five game battle. Malaysia's Mohammad Syafiq Kamal recovered from losing the first two games to stun Egyptian second seed Yassin Shohdy 3-2 . Kamal prevailed 6-11, 9-11, 11-8, 14-12, 11-8 , completing his own remarkable comeback to claim the men's crown.
