Taylor Townsend, Katerina Siniakova Complete Career Slam With First US Open Doubles Title

Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova overcame a nervous start to defeat Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 and win their first US Open women's doubles title together, completing a career Grand Slam as a partnership.

The top seeds looked uncomfortable early in Friday's final at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Townsend admitted she was nervous, felt tight and was struggling to move freely. They dropped the opening three games and eventually surrendered the first set, with an uncharacteristic communication error adding to their problems.

But the match changed dramatically after that.

Townsend and Siniakova raised their intensity, attacked more aggressively at the net and quickly found their rhythm. They stormed through the second set without dropping a game before carrying that momentum into the decider. The pair broke away from their opponents again and sealed a commanding comeback.

“It just means the world to me,” Townsend said. “Not only to be able to win the US Open but to be able to complete a career Slam.”

The victory marked Townsend's fourth Grand Slam title with Siniakova. The pair had previously won Wimbledon in 2024, the Australian Open in 2025 and the French Open earlier this year.

For Siniakova, the triumph was even more significant as it became her 12th Grand Slam women's doubles title. Seven of those came alongside fellow Czech player Barbora Krejcikova, while another was won with Coco Gauff.

The title also gave Townsend redemption after her singles campaign ended against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Despite that setback, she remained confident that doubles offered another opportunity to make an impact.

Krueger and Montgomery had produced one of the tournament's biggest runs. The American wild cards, ranked 570th and 610th in doubles, respectively, reached the final after eliminating the defending champions Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski in separate rounds.

Townsend and Siniakova had lost last year's final to Routliffe and Dabrowski. This time, Townsend dropped to her knees after the final point before celebrating with Siniakova.

“If flipping the script had a face, you'd see my face,” Townsend said.
