TCS Launches India’s First Oracle AI Data Platform Lab in Kolkata
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched India’s first Oracle AI Data Platform Lab and Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Kolkata, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s enterprise artificial intelligence ecosystem .
The facility, established in collaboration with Oracle at Delta Park Lords, aims to help businesses accelerate AI adoption by transforming fragmented enterprise data into actionable intelligence and deploying AI-powered applications at scale .
According to TCS, the lab will leverage Oracle’s AI Data Platform, integrating Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Autonomous AI Database and OCI Enterprise AI to help organisations make their data AI-ready. The initiative is designed to address common enterprise challenges such as siloed data systems, slow analytics cycles, limited AI scalability and operational inefficiencies.
The lab will serve as a testing and innovation hub where companies can move quickly from AI ideation and experimentation to full-scale deployment . Key use cases include predictive maintenance in manufacturing , intelligent supply chain management, fraud detection in banking and financial services , personalised customer engagement in retail, automated document processing, healthcare data analytics, and AI-driven business process automation .
Industry experts say such facilities can significantly reduce the time and cost involved in developing enterprise AI solutions by providing access to advanced cloud infrastructure, data engineering tools and pre-built AI frameworks.
“The facility is designed to accelerate the journey from ideation to experimentation to full-scale deployment,” said Sudipto Ray , Vice President and Global Head of Oracle Practice at TCS. Oracle India’s Head of Alliances and Channels Technology, Arvind Mehra , said the collaboration would help enterprises convert data into measurable business outcomes through AI-driven insights and intelligent automation.
TCS said it plans to establish four more Oracle AI Data Platform Labs and Centres of Excellence across India over the next three years. The company currently has a centralised workforce of 26,000 Oracle-skilled professionals supporting client AI initiatives, reflecting its growing investments in AI engineering, intelligent data platforms and advanced analytics.
