TDP MP, Ex-BRS MLA Among Six Detained After Drug Raid at Moinabad Farmhouse
A late-night raid by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force at a farmhouse in Moinabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad has led to the detention of six persons, including Putta Mahesh Kumar , a Member of Parliament from the Telugu Desam Party , and former *Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy* , after they allegedly tested positive for drug consumption.
According to officials, the raid was conducted on Saturday night after authorities received reliable information about a drug party taking place at a farmhouse owned by Rohith Reddy. Acting on the tip-off, the EAGLE Force, in coordination with local police teams, entered the premises and found a group of individuals attending the gathering.
Police said a total of 11 people present at the party were subjected to on-the-spot tests using urine drug testing kits . In the preliminary tests, five individuals, including Rohith Reddy, tested positive for drug consumption. However, Putta Mahesh Kumar initially tested negative.
As part of standard procedure, all the detainees were later taken to a hospital for further examination. Blood tests conducted at the hospital confirmed that six persons, including the MP, had consumed drugs , officials said.
During the search operation, the police also seized about two grams of a suspected narcotic substance from the farmhouse. The seized material has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis to determine the exact nature of the drug. Officials said the investigation would also focus on whether the drugs were consumed at the farmhouse or brought from elsewhere .
In another incident during the gathering, one of the attendees allegedly fired three rounds in the air using a revolver , creating panic among those present. Police seized the firearm as part of the investigation.
Authorities said the party was attended by a group of realtors, businessmen and political personalities , and a woman was also among the participants.
Officials of the EAGLE Force stated that further investigation is underway to trace the source of the narcotic substance and identify others involved in the supply or distribution of drugs connected to the party. Legal action will be taken based on the findings of the forensic report and the ongoing probe.
