The Telangana government has set an ambitious target of completing a comprehensive statewide land resurvey by March 2027 , with Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directing officials to treat the exercise as a top administrative priority.

Addressing district collectors through a video conference from the Khammam Collectorate on Saturday, the minister said the initiative is central to the government's efforts to provide greater security and clarity in land ownership for farmers across the state.

The review meeting covered several key government programmes, including the implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act , disposal of Sadabainama applications , progress of Indiramma Housing , distribution of pending 2BHK houses , and supply of school uniforms to students.

Ponguleti said that while the government has replaced the controversial Dharani portal framework with the Bhu Bharati Act , the success of the new system depends largely on the completion of an accurate and transparent land resurvey. According to him, a pilot survey conducted in five villages across 413 locations where cadastral maps were unavailable helped resolve nearly 95 percent of land-related disputes and issues , demonstrating the effectiveness of the exercise.

The resurvey programme will be carried out in three phases , with the first phase covering 70 villages in each district . The minister instructed officials to make full use of trained and licensed surveyors and warned that licences of surveyors who fail to report for duty should be cancelled. Survey personnel participating in the exercise will receive a remuneration of ₹60 per acre surveyed .

The minister also sought faster disposal of pending Sadabainama applications. Although the Bhu Bharati framework provides an avenue to resolve the 9.26 lakh applications pending since the Dharani era , concerns remain over a high rate of rejections. Officials were asked to identify the reasons for such rejections and ensure that eligible applications are cleared in accordance with the rules.

On housing, Ponguleti directed district administrations to accelerate construction under the Indiramma Housing Scheme and immediately complete the selection of beneficiaries for the second phase. Families living in thatched huts and temporary shelters should receive priority, he said.

He also instructed officials to hand over pending 2BHK housing units to eligible beneficiaries and ensure that every student in government schools receives at least one set of uniforms by August 15 .
