

Telangana Aims To Emerge As Global Logistics Hub, Says Minister Sridhar Babu
Telangana is working towards positioning itself as a global logistics hub , leveraging infrastructure expansion, technology adoption and policy reforms, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Friday.
Addressing the International Conference on Shipping and Logistics 2026 held at HICC Novotel in Hyderabad, organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Minister said the state is building a future-ready logistics ecosystem aligned with its long-term vision document “Telangana Rising 2047.”
He noted that logistics will play a decisive role in achieving the state’s development goals, especially as Telangana continues to strengthen its industrial and export base. Highlighting performance indicators, Sridhar Babu said Telangana has secured 8th position in the Export Preparedness Index and ranks 2nd among landlocked states . It also stands at 7th place nationally in merchandise exports , reflecting its growing industrial competitiveness.
The Minister stressed that the government is treating the absence of a coastline not as a limitation but as a strategic opportunity, focusing on strong multimodal connectivity and efficient supply chain infrastructure.
Under the upcoming Logistics Policy 2.0 , the state plans to promote the development of mega multimodal logistics parks, dry ports, bonded warehousing facilities, and integrated logistics hubs . He added that the government is also building a skilled workforce to meet rising demand in the sector.
Sridhar Babu emphasised the increasing role of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity systems, data analytics and machine learning in improving efficiency and competitiveness in logistics and transport operations.
The government is also pushing investments in rail-linked infrastructure, air cargo facilities, cold chain networks, grade-A warehousing, digital logistics platforms, and green mobility solutions , he said, inviting industry leaders to actively participate in Telangana’s logistics expansion.
He assured full government support to investors and stakeholders to strengthen the state’s position as a key logistics and trade gateway in India. The event was attended by senior FTCCI representatives, including President R. Ravikumar, Senior Vice President K.K. Maheshwari, Vice President Srinivas Garimella, and Shipping and Logistics Committee Chairman Kamal Jain.
