The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh weather forecast for June 22, 2026 points to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and high humidity across both Telugu states as the Southwest Monsoon strengthens over southern India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts for heavy rain in parts of Telangana and warned of thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph across all districts of the state, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are also under heavy rain and thunderstorm alerts.

In Telangana, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places, with heavy rainfall expected in isolated pockets of Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Jogulamba Gadwal districts. Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Karimnagar, Adilabad and several other districts may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 30°C and 36°C, while minimum temperatures may remain between 24°C and 27°C.

Across Andhra Pradesh, rain bearing systems over the Bay of Bengal , including upper air cyclonic circulations near north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, are expected to support widespread monsoon activity. Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Eluru, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Kadapa, Anantapur, Kurnool and Nandyal are among the districts likely to receive showers and thunderstorms. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema remain under IMD heavy rainfall warnings for June 22.

A notable feature of the forecast is the simultaneous presence of heavy rain alerts and localized heat wave conditions in parts of northern Telangana, including Adilabad, Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts. IMD forecasts indicate that temperatures are likely to gradually decline by 2°C to 5°C over the coming days as monsoon activity intensifies.

The latest IMD assessment also indicates further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, strengthening rainfall prospects through the week. Authorities have advised residents to avoid open areas during lightning activity, monitor official weather bulletins, and take precautions against localized flooding and travel disruptions in vulnerable districts.
