Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Weather Today: Yellow Alert Issued, Will It Rain in Hyderabad?
The India Meteorological Department , IMD, has forecast a mixed spell of weather across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh today with isolated rain and thunderstorm activity continuing even as the intensity of the ongoing monsoon spell eases compared to earlier in the week. A Yellow Alert remains in force for Telangana, with the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre citing an upper air cyclonic circulation and a trough influencing weather across the state.
In Hyderabad , temperatures are expected to range between a low of around 24 to 25 degrees Celsius and a high of 32 to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels between 55 and 73 percent. The city is likely to see mostly cloudy to partly sunny conditions through the day, with only a low chance of rain, though isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places across Telangana, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kilometres per hour in most districts, with a few northern and eastern districts, including Adilabad , Nizamabad , Karimnagar , Mulugu , Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam , likely to see stronger gusts of up to 50 to 60 kilometres per hour.
Across Andhra Pradesh , the Amaravati Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rain in several districts, driven by south westerly and westerly winds in the lower troposphere. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to witness isolated to scattered rainfall through the day, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in a few locations. Rayalaseema is also expected to see isolated rain, along with the possibility of strong surface winds and gusty conditions reaching 40 to 50 kilometres per hour in parts of the region. In Vijayawada and Amaravati , daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius, with high humidity levels of 80 percent or more keeping conditions muggy, and moderate to heavy rain showers likely at times through the day.
The IMD noted that overall rainfall activity is expected to remain subdued over central and south peninsular India, including large parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, for the coming week, even though the southwest monsoon has technically covered the entire country since July 9. Residents, commuters and farmers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms, stay cautious near trees and electric poles during gusty winds, and keep track of the latest weather bulletins issued by the respective meteorological centres in Hyderabad and Amaravati.
