Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Weather Today: Monsoon Showers to Continue as IMD Issues Rain Alert
The southwest monsoon is showing no signs of easing up on the Telugu states, with the India Meteorological Department continuing its rain alert for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh . Several districts are likely to witness scattered showers, thunderstorms and occasional heavy rainfall. The IMD has also warned of lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 60 kmph during thunderstorms, so anyone planning outdoor errands today might want to reconsider.
Hyderabad continues its now familiar afternoon routine of cloudy skies giving way to evening showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures hovering around 36 degrees during the day and dropping to a relatively pleasant 27 degrees at night. Hyderabad is expected to experience cloudy skies during the afternoon, followed by evening showers and thunderstorms in some areas. Northern Telangana districts remain the most likely to see moderate to heavy rainfall , while central parts of the state continue catching up to the monsoon's full arrival.
Over in Andhra Pradesh, coastal districts including Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada are benefiting from the same weather system extending across southern India that is fuelling cloud development and rainfall activity throughout the region. Rayalaseema, which saw the monsoon's earliest entry into the state, continues to experience steady rain activity, while coastal Andhra is gradually catching up with the seasonal pattern.
A broader picture from the IMD's regional bulletin shows the trough from East Uttar Pradesh to Telangana across Chhattisgarh persisting at higher altitudes, a system that has been driving the sustained wet spell. Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka, some parts of Telangana, some more parts of Andhra Pradesh.
With temperatures finally cooling from the brutal pre-monsoon highs of early June and rainfall activity expected to persist, residents across both states can expect a wet, cloudy and considerably more comfortable few days ahead, though commuters in low lying areas of Hyderabad would do well to keep an umbrella handy.
