Telangana Assembly Monsoon Session To Begin On September 7
The Telangana Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session is set to begin on September 7, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announcing the schedule during a meeting with ministers and MLAs at the Secretariat on Monday.
The meeting focused extensively on the progress of development works across various Assembly constituencies, particularly irrigation projects. Revanth Reddy directed legislators to ensure that pending land acquisition for irrigation projects is completed at the earliest, stressing that delays in acquiring land could prevent major projects from reaching completion.
The Chief Minister assured the MLAs that the government would provide the required funds for land acquisition, compensation, rehabilitation and forest clearances. He called for close coordination between elected representatives and officials to remove bottlenecks affecting projects in their constituencies.
Revanth Reddy had earlier announced on August 16 that the Assembly would be convened in September. He has also repeatedly urged BRS president and Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) to attend the session and participate in discussions on the state’s development and welfare record.
The Chief Minister said KCR’s four decades of political experience and his decade-long tenure as chief minister could add value to debates in the House. He also called for a detailed discussion on the welfare measures implemented by the Congress government over the past two-and-a-half years.
At the same time, Revanth Reddy said the Assembly should examine the ₹8.11 lakh crore debt burden inherited from the previous BRS government. He suggested that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and senior leader T. Harish Rao, who have frequently demanded an Assembly session, should also ensure KCR’s participation.
The upcoming session is expected to provide a platform for the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS to debate development, welfare, finances and other key issues concerning Telangana.
