Telangana Cabinet to Meet on Feb 23, Budget Session, Farmer Aid on Agenda
Hyderabad, February 19:
The Telangana Cabinet will meet on February 23 at 3 PM at the State Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy . The meeting is being held at a crucial juncture as the state prepares for its upcoming legislative and financial agenda.
A key item on the agenda is the scheduling and conduct of the Assembly Budget Session , during which the government will present its fiscal roadmap for the next financial year. The Cabinet is expected to discuss budget priorities, revenue outlook, and sectoral allocations, particularly for irrigation, agriculture, welfare, infrastructure, and urban development.
The meeting is also likely to review the release of funds under the Rythu Bharosa investment support scheme. The government had indicated that financial assistance to farmers would be processed following the completion of municipal elections. The discussion may focus on beneficiary coverage, fund flow mechanisms, and timely disbursement ahead of the agricultural season.
In the wake of recently concluded municipal polls, the Cabinet may deliberate on strengthening grassroots governance. Discussions could include the conduct of ZPTC and MPTC elections , finalisation of reservation rosters, and measures to enhance administrative efficiency at the local body level.
Housing and rural development initiatives are also expected to feature prominently. The Cabinet may review progress and implementation plans for the second phase of Indiramma housing , aimed at providing permanent homes to economically weaker sections. Irrigation expansion and modernization of water infrastructure — critical to Telangana’s agrarian economy — may also be assessed.
Beyond individual schemes, the meeting is expected to evaluate broader governance, financial, and social priorities affecting farmers, rural communities, and urban populations. Officials indicate that final decisions will be taken only after detailed inter-departmental consultations and comprehensive policy review.
The February 23 Cabinet meeting is therefore viewed as an important step in shaping Telangana’s policy direction, welfare delivery, and development planning ahead of the new fiscal cycle.
