Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Saturday directed district collectors and senior officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2026 , scheduled to be held on June 21, while also reviewing the ongoing paddy procurement process and preparations for the Chief Minister’s upcoming district visits.

During a special video conference with collectors, the Chief Secretary stressed that the examination must be conducted in a smooth, transparent and secure manner , with all departments working in close coordination to avoid inconvenience to candidates. He instructed officials to create a conducive environment at examination centres and ensure that students face no difficulties on the day of the test.

Health Department Principal Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu informed the meeting that nearly 72,956 candidates are expected to appear for NEET across 208 examination centres in 24 cities and towns throughout Telangana. She said authorities are making all necessary arrangements, including uninterrupted power supply, drinking water facilities, transportation support, security measures and other essential infrastructure at the centres.

Highlighting the importance of maintaining the integrity of the examination, National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh said stricter security protocols are being implemented this year. He noted that, for the first time in the country, the Indian Air Force will be involved in transporting question papers , a move aimed at strengthening security and ensuring the safe handling of examination material.

Additional Director General of Police Mahesh Bhagwat directed officials to provide robust security at all examination venues. He also called for continuous monitoring of social media platforms to prevent the spread of rumours and misinformation, warning that strict action would be taken against those attempting to create disturbances or circulate false information.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the state’s paddy procurement operations. In view of weather forecasts predicting rainfall in the coming days, he instructed collectors to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to protect procured grain from moisture damage. He further directed officials to accelerate procurement activities and ensure farmers do not face any inconvenience.

Ramakrishna Rao also asked district administrations to make advance arrangements for the Chief Minister’s forthcoming district tours and public meetings , including security, transport and accommodation facilities through coordinated efforts among all departments.

Senior officials, including the Director General of Police and representatives from various departments, participated in the review meeting.
