Telangana Chief Secretary Travels By Metro, Pushes For Joint Metro-RTC Pass

Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju travelled by Metro from Begumpet to Paradise on Sunday as he reviewed public transport services and directed officials to expedite the rollout of a joint pass for Metro Rail and RTC buses in Hyderabad.

The proposed integrated pass is aimed at making daily commuting more convenient by allowing passengers to use a common pass across the two public transport systems. Jaju directed officials to complete the necessary arrangements and make daily and monthly passes available at the earliest.

Jaju held a coordination meeting with officials from Hyderabad Metro Rail, TGSRTC, the electricity department and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Works. During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress of the first and second phases of the Hyderabad Metro project.

HMRL Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed, Additional MD B. Ajit Reddy and Joint MD Shivendra Pratap briefed the Chief Secretary on the status of various Metro-related works.

Officials from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad and TGSRTC informed Jaju that the technical arrangements required for the joint pass were already in place. He directed them to finalise the fare structure quickly and implement the system without unnecessary delay.

During his Metro journey from Begumpet to Paradise, Jaju interacted with commuters and Metro officials and sought feedback on train operations and passenger services. He also inspected commercial facilities and parking areas at Metro stations and suggested measures to improve their development and utilisation.

The Chief Secretary separately reviewed the progress of the 7.5-km Old City Metro corridor, including the road-widening works required for the project. Officials briefed him on the tender process for appointing a General Consultant. Jaju instructed authorities to accelerate the works and initiate project activities as soon as possible.

Later, he inspected the elevated corridors being constructed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority along NH-44 and reviewed the progress of the ongoing infrastructure works.
