Telangana CS Sanjay Jaju Reviews El Nino Preparedness, NEET-PG Exam Arrangements

Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Tuesday reviewed the state’s preparedness for possible El Nino-induced weather conditions, arrangements for the NEET-PG entrance examination on August 30, and measures to strengthen tourism across the state. He held a video conference with district collectors from the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat and assessed the situation in various districts.

With El Nino potentially causing rainfall deficiencies, Jaju directed officials to intensify efforts to educate farmers about crop rotation and crop diversification. He stressed promoting crops that require less water and are better suited to changing weather conditions. Field-level awareness programmes should encourage farmers to take up pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and horticultural crops, he said.

The Chief Secretary also called for effective implementation of the contingency crop plan prepared to deal with possible rain-deficient conditions. District administrations were instructed to continuously monitor weather developments and take preventive measures wherever required to minimise the impact on agriculture.

Jaju also reviewed preparations for the NEET-PG examination scheduled for August 30, directing officials to ensure that the test is conducted smoothly without any disruptions. He asked authorities to pay special attention to electricity, drinking water, transport, infrastructure and security arrangements at examination centres.

The examination will be held in Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts, besides 30 other centres across Telangana. Departments concerned were directed to coordinate closely and ensure adequate security, uninterrupted power supply and a peaceful environment for candidates.

The Chief Secretary further reviewed tourism development under the Telangana Tourism 2047 policy. He called for planned development of historical, cultural, natural and spiritual destinations by improving infrastructure, connectivity, cleanliness and visitor facilities.

Officials were asked to develop the state’s 27 identified special tourism areas to attract domestic and international visitors and prepare focused plans to expand spiritual, heritage, eco and crafts tourism. Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad and other senior officials attended the meeting.
