Telangana Goes Paperless as Cabinet Meetings Turn Digital
In a major step toward building a technology-driven administration , the Telangana Government has introduced a fully digital system for conducting Cabinet meetings, eliminating the need for traditional paper files and printed agenda documents.
The initiative was rolled out during a special Cabinet-related meeting at the State Secretariat, where IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu handed over specially configured tablets to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and fellow ministers. These devices will now serve as the primary platform for accessing Cabinet agendas, reviewing policy proposals, and participating in official discussions.
Under the new arrangement, all Cabinet documents will be circulated electronically in a secure e-book format , replacing the long-standing practice of distributing physical files. Officials believe the shift will not only improve efficiency but also strengthen data security and enable faster access to information for decision-makers.
Speaking about the initiative, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy described the move as a key governance reform rather than merely a technological upgrade. He said the adoption of digital tools would help accelerate administrative processes, reduce delays caused by file movement, and improve coordination among departments.
The transition is also expected to contribute to environmental sustainability by significantly reducing paper consumption across government operations. With thousands of pages traditionally generated for high-level meetings, the paperless model is likely to lower printing costs while supporting greener governance practices.
The Digital Cabinet initiative aligns with Telangana's broader vision of leveraging technology to improve public administration. Over the past decade, the state has emerged as one of India's leading destinations for innovation and digital services, with the government increasingly integrating technology into governance and citizen service delivery.
Officials said the success of paperless Cabinet meetings could pave the way for similar reforms across departments and administrative units. By digitizing processes at the highest levels of government, Telangana aims to create a more responsive, transparent, and efficient governance ecosystem.
With ministers now equipped to access official documents anytime and from anywhere, the state has taken another significant step toward modernizing governance and setting new benchmarks in the adoption of digital solutions within public administration.
