Telangana Government On High Alert As Heavy Rainfall Forecast For Hyderabad

The Telangana government has placed all key departments in the Hyderabad metropolitan region on high alert following forecasts of heavy rainfall in the coming days.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to take proactive measures to prevent disruptions and ensure public safety across the city. The instructions were issued in view of weather forecasts indicating the possibility of significant rainfall over Hyderabad and surrounding urban areas.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for coordinated action among various departments, including the police, traffic police, municipal administration, HYDRAA , power distribution companies and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. He asked officials to work closely and implement precautionary measures well in advance.

Special attention has been ordered for flood-prone and low-lying areas , locations vulnerable to waterlogging , and major traffic junctions that typically witness congestion during heavy rains. Authorities have been instructed to keep emergency response teams ready for immediate deployment wherever required.

The government has also directed departments to continuously monitor the situation and respond swiftly to any emerging challenges. Officials have been told to ensure that essential civic and emergency services remain operational without interruption during periods of intense rainfall.

The Chief Minister instructed senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and the Special Secretary of the Core Urban Region, to review preparedness measures on a war footing and maintain constant oversight of the evolving weather situation.

According to officials, the administration's primary objective is to minimise inconvenience to residents and safeguard lives and property . With the monsoon gaining momentum, the state government is focusing on preventive action and rapid response mechanisms to ensure that normal life in the city is affected as little as possible by adverse weather conditions.
