Telangana Govt Approves New Buildings for 136 Revenue Offices
In a major administrative infrastructure initiative, the Telangana government has decided to construct permanent buildings for Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), Tahsildar, and Sub-Registrar offices across the state, aiming to improve public service delivery and eliminate the dependence on rented premises.
The decision was announced by Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy after a review meeting with senior officials from the Revenue and Housing departments at the State Secretariat on Thursday. The proposed construction will be carried out under the supervision of the Telangana Housing Corporation .
During the meeting, officials presented details of revenue offices currently functioning from rented buildings, structures in poor condition, and facilities lacking adequate infrastructure to serve the public efficiently. Following the review, the government resolved to take up a large-scale construction program to provide these offices with modern and permanent facilities.
The minister said government departments that interact with citizens on a daily basis should operate from well-equipped and dignified premises. He noted that the initiative reflects the vision of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to strengthen governance and make public services more accessible and citizen-friendly.
As part of the first phase, the government will construct new buildings for 125 Tahsildar offices and 11 RDO offices that are either operating from rented premises or housed in dilapidated structures. The new complexes will be designed with modern amenities and developed in locations that are easily accessible to the public.
In addition to new construction, the government is also focusing on upgrading existing infrastructure. The minister directed Revenue Secretary D.S. Lokesh Kumar to prepare a comprehensive report on government offices requiring repairs and maintenance. Necessary renovation works are expected to be taken up on priority to improve working conditions and service standards.
A key feature of the initiative will be the adoption of a uniform architectural design for RDO, Tahsildar and Sub-Registrar offices across Telangana. Officials said standardized buildings would help create a consistent administrative framework while ensuring better workflow for employees and smoother service delivery for citizens.
The proposed designs will be finalized after consultations with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy . According to the minister, the government aims to create high-quality public infrastructure while maintaining cost efficiency and ensuring that essential services are brought closer to people.
Officials have been instructed to immediately identify suitable government land for the projects and prepare an action plan for the early commencement of construction. The government believes the initiative will not only reduce long-term expenditure on rentals but also enhance the overall efficiency and image of the Revenue Department.
The review meeting was attended by Revenue Secretary D.S. Lokesh Kumar , Inspector General of Stamps and Registration Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu , Housing Secretary V.P. Gautham , and other senior officials.
